Psalm 4, which says, “In peace I will lie down and sleep,” gives us insight on resting peacefully with God as night falls, and Psalm 5 enriches our experience by suggesting prayer to God “in the morning” and “expectantly” anticipating God’s leading and protection throughout the daylight hours. These psalms give us a window on how David, Israel’s king who wrote many psalms, likely began and ended each day. These two psalms will help us live meaningfully, day in and day out, with God.
